'Future Relics' — made possible by Google is a solo exhibition by David Porte Beckefeld presenting new sculptural and printed work exploring the creative dialogue between human and machine. Beginning with his own drawings and VR sculptures, Porte Beckefeld trains Google Labs' AI tools to reinterpret form and texture — outputs are then translated into 3D models, physically printed and hand finished, bringing digital work into tangible form. These sculptures are exhibited alongside their AI-generated counterparts as prints, with CRT monitors displaying AI animations of the works across Future and Relic eras. "By training on my series of VR sculptures, I generated new forms that carry the DNA of my work while pushing into directions difficult to reach alone — creating an AI to IRL pipeline that brings digital outputs into the tangible world."
'Future Relics' positions AI as creative collaborator, exploring how emerging tools can extend artistic practice while preserving human intention and material presence.
